Guyuelongshan Suspends Trading to Clarify Concerns Over Carcinogen Ethyl Carbamate in Yellow Rice Wine

In June 2012, online rumors said ethyl carbamate (a carcinogen) levels in yellow rice wine were relatively high; Guyuelongshan's shares were suspended for the whole day, and the company denied that its products contained excessive carcinogens. In 2014, media again questioned the unstable water quality at its water source, Jian Lake, and alleged it 'used tap water to brew wine.' The company denied and clarified the claims; no administrative penalty was seen, but its brand image was affected.
