Stores Exposed Selling Blind Boxes to Young Children in Undercover Probe
In August 2023, an undercover investigation by Guangming Online found that a 5-year-old child could buy blind boxes 'without hindrance' at stores including MINISO and M&G Stationery, violating the State Administration for Market Regulation's Guidelines for the Regulation of Blind Box Business Activities, which prohibit sales to minors under 8; earlier media reports also said stationery blind boxes induced primary school students to buy in large quantities.
