Baijia Akuan-made Ma Liuji hot and sour noodles recalled after mold reports; Baijia Akuan previously summoned over foreign-object complaints

In July 2025, consumers reported that the noodle cakes in Ma Liuji hot and sour noodles contract-manufactured by Baijia Akuan were moldy; Costco removed them from shelves, involving two batches dated June 16 and 18. The contract manufacturer apologized, saying there were deficiencies in the disinfection process, and said the product had been removed and recalled, with consumers able to return it for a refund. Previously, in 2022, Akuan Food was summoned by Chengdu market regulators and ordered to rectify within a deadline over complaints about black spots, dark patches and foreign objects; in the same year, an allegation that 'rat meat was found in red-oil noodles' was determined by investigation to be moldy noodles.
