    Great Wall Motor publicly reports BYD over non-compliant emissions from conventional fuel tanks

    Great Wall Motor issued a statement reporting to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the State Administration for Market Regulation and other authorities that BYD's Qin PLUS DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i use conventional fuel tanks and are suspected of failing whole-vehicle evaporative pollutant emission standards. BYD responded that Great Wall's testing process did not comply with national standards and the report was invalid, and that it reserved the right to pursue legal action. The move triggered a public corporate spat and was criticized for damaging the industry ecosystem; regulators did not publish a conclusion, and BYD later switched to high-pressure fuel tanks.
