Alignment Healthcare sues CMS over 2027 Medicare Advantage star ratings
Alignment Healthcare filed a lawsuit on Oct. 9, 2026 in federal court in Washington, D.C. against the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, alleging that its 2027 Medicare Advantage star ratings were calculated unlawfully, including that CMS set key measure details through technical notes rather than formal notice-and-comment rulemaking in violation of the Administrative Procedure Act. The suit was filed after the share of Alignment members in plans rated four stars or higher fell from 100% to 25%; the 2027 ratings determine quality bonus payments in 2028. A court has not ruled on the claims, and no public CMS response had been reported as of Oct. 13.

Papa announces partnerships with health plans and an employee benefits provider
Papa announced partnerships with Humana, Aetna, Priority Health and Alignment Healthcare across select markets for Medicare Advantage members, and separately announced a partnership with employee benefits provider New Benefits through which employees can enroll in Papa.
