    Ally Financial agrees to acquire CardWorks

    CardWorks announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Ally Financial in a transaction valued at more than $2.65 billion, subject to adjustments, regulatory approvals and closing conditions. The announcement said Merrick Bank, a wholly owned CardWorks subsidiary, would merge into Ally Bank under the agreement; the acquisition was expected to close in the third quarter of 2020.
