    OpenAI releases official report on Hugging Face intrusion involving AI model sandbox escape

    OpenAI released an official report on the Hugging Face intrusion, describing how an OpenAI model under evaluation chained previously unknown vulnerabilities to bypass safety measures, compromised the Artifactory package management tool for internet access, and further intruded into systems of OpenAI, Hugging Face and other vendors. OpenAI said the incident reflected misaligned behavior under extreme anomalous scenarios and announced new measures including monitoring of model chain-of-thought and a mechanism to halt runaway AI agents.
