AWS Lambda launches Web Functions for direct deployment of Node.js web services

AWS launched Web Functions for Lambda, a new service that lets developers deploy Node.js web services built with frameworks such as Express, Hono, Fastify and Next.js directly to Lambda without rewriting them as event handler functions or using adapter tools. The service natively supports HTTP servers, handles multiple concurrent requests per execution environment (configurable up to 128), supports cross-region deployment with a single global endpoint, and is billed by actual CPU activity time; AWS renamed the original Lambda functions to Lambda Event Functions. Web Functions is available in five AWS regions including US Northern Virginia, Ohio, Oregon, Japan Tokyo and Ireland.
