Beijing Hualian Hypermarket defaults on supplier payments, cut off by Master Kong and Danone, sued by suppliers

Beijing Hualian Group's Beijing Hualian Hypermarket chain was reported to be in arrears to suppliers with tight cash flow; in 2011 and 2012 brands including Master Kong and Danone cut off supply, with media reporting the cause as unpaid bills. In October 2013 another supplier sued Hualian Hypermarket after tens of thousands of yuan in payments "vanished" and a reconciliation dispute arose between the store and the procurement center. Impact and handling: the episode exposed supply-chain payment-term and funding pressures; the 2021 annual report disclosed no major litigation or arbitration matters. Status: media reports. Entity involved: Beijing Hualian Hypermarket Co., Ltd. Scope: settlement between Beijing Hualian Hypermarket and its suppliers.
