Fat Fritz 2 open-source licensing controversy
Stockfish developers alleged that Fat Fritz 2 was a modified version of Stockfish and did not initially provide adequate attribution or comply with the obligations of the GNU General Public License. Lichess also criticized the product's originality claims. ChessBase added references and argued that the product incorporated additional neural-network work, but critics disputed the distinction and questioned the provenance of that network.
