    Hepatitis B vaccine “value chain” hype

    Chongqing Brewery long hyped the therapeutic hepatitis B vaccine of its stake-held Jiachen Biology; in 2011 phase II unblinding showed efficacy close to placebo, the stock hit ten consecutive limit-downs, and Carlsberg suffered a paper loss of about RMB 700 million; issues including the free transfer of Jiachen equity were questioned. The project was transferred out for RMB 1 million in 2015. The vaccine project was terminated.
