    Subsidiary sanctioned by US over alleged Iranian oil shipping

    In September 2019, the US Treasury Department's OFAC added Dalian COSCO Shipping Tanker, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Energy, to the SDN sanctions list on suspicion of transporting Iranian oil. Business involving about 50 tankers was affected, and global tanker freight rates surged. On January 31, 2020, Dalian Tanker was removed from the list.
