Former Daqing Oilfield GM Wang Yongchun tried for bribery, later sentenced to 20 years

Wang Yongchun was formerly general manager of Daqing Oilfield and later deputy general manager of China National Petroleum Corporation. In August 2013, he was investigated for suspected serious disciplinary violations, becoming one of the markers of the opening of the anti-corruption "curtain" in the oil system. The court found that his bribery and unexplained huge property totaled about 91 million yuan, and that he abused his power in cooperative development of oil and gas blocks, causing major losses to national interests. In 2015, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for bribery, huge property with unidentified sources, and abuse of power by personnel of state-owned companies. Impact and handling: media reported that corruption cases occurred frequently at Daqing Oilfield during his tenure; he later received a sentence reduction. Progress: court judgment. Subject: Wang Yongchun (former general manager of Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd.). Related scope: the former principal person of Daqing Oilfield personally.
