Dispute over Warner Bros. album releases
Warner Bros. released four Zappa albums that Zappa said lacked proper authorization. He also objected to crediting and artwork issues associated with Studio Tan, Sleep Dirt, and Orchestral Favorites.

Zappa–Cohen litigation
After the founders' business relationship ended, Frank Zappa and Herb Cohen filed lawsuits against one another. The dispute included recording agreements Cohen had signed with Kathy Dalton and Growl without Zappa's approval.
