Dongfeng Nissan X-Trail and Other Models Recalled: 1.188 Million Vehicles Over EGR Valve Defect

After the State Administration for Market Regulation launched a defect investigation, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan to recall 1,188,020 vehicles, including some X-Trail, new Qashqai, and seventh-generation Teana models produced between July 2018 and September 2021, starting December 30, 2023. The EGR valve seal is not tight, and the internal bearing may be corroded and stuck by chlorine-containing condensate, causing the engine fault light to illuminate, increased CO and NOx emissions, and in extreme cases low-speed stalling. Before the recall there were 58 complaints and claims. The remedy is a free replacement of an improved EGR valve; this is a large-scale emissions and safety recall prompted by regulatory investigation.
