Gulating Court of Appeal confirmed the prison sentence imposed on Georg Eide in connection with the attempted export of Tide Carrier for Pakistani scrapping.

Conviction of Georg Eide
Georg Eide was sentenced to six months of unconditional imprisonment for assisting the attempted export of the vessel. The court also ordered confiscation of NOK 2 million from Eide Marine Eidendom AS, while buyer Wirana received a NOK 7 million fine for falsified documentation.

Tide Carrier attempted export controversy
The former Eide Carrier, later named Tide Carrier and Harrier, lost engine power while traveling toward the Indian Ocean and nearly ran aground. The incident became connected to allegations that the ship was being improperly exported to Pakistan for scrapping.
