Iran-Contra-related meetings
Oliver North and associates met at the hotel shortly after the Reagan administration disclosed the Iran-Contra affair. Investigators and legal experts later regarded meetings there and elsewhere as part of efforts to address or conceal the affair.
1979
Negotiations connected with the Letelier assassination case
Negotiations concerning testimony and extradition involving DINA agent Armando Fernandez Larios took place at the hotel. The negotiations did not produce an agreement, and the accused conspirators were later convicted.
1978
Talmadge campaign-finance scandal
The hotel was the location of a cash transfer connected with the diversion of campaign funds by Senator Herman Talmadge and his administrative assistant. Talmadge was later found guilty and censured by the Senate in 1979.
