Two Romanian make-up artists, Virginia Verlan (39) and Ionela Christiana Lupasea (32), were allegedly intoxicated during a Fiji Airways flight from Singapore to Nadi on October 8, 2026, failed to follow flight attendants' seat belt instructions, and smoked e-cigarettes on board. They were charged with one count each of unruly behaviour and smoking on board an aircraft, pleaded guilty and apologised at a special sitting of the Nadi Magistrate Court on October 12, 2026, and were each fined $500 (a total of $1,000); their e-cigarettes held by border police were ordered returned.
