    NIO recalls 686 Firefly EVs over steering sensor defect risk

Due to a manufacturing process fluctuation, the steering column torque sensor harness may interfere with the sensor rotor, which in extreme cases can cause abnormal sensor signals, illuminate the electronic steering system fault light, and lead to loss of steering assist. Regulators have received 7 related complaints, with no reports of accidents or injuries. The company will inspect the harness and rotor for interference and replace the harness free of charge where needed, and will correct the harness installation process in production; the recall implementation period runs until December 18, 2026.
