    Former chairman Lian Xiaoqiang arrested on suspicion of bribery; inspection cited irregular determination of winning bidder

    In April 2016, Lian Xiaoqiang, former chairman of Fujian Automobile Industry Group, was placed under organizational investigation on suspicion of serious disciplinary violations; in July the Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate decided to arrest him on suspicion of accepting bribes. An inspection notice pointed to problems including excessive concurrent posts in subordinate enterprises, irregular use of large funds, irregular determination of winning bidders, and irregular allocation of official vehicles; around the same time, the death of an executive at a subsidiary of its King Long Motor drew attention. Arrested and held criminally liable.
