    Ben Bridge Jeweler smash-and-grab robbery

On December 6, three men entered Ben Bridge Jeweler near J. C. Penney and used sledgehammers and axes to break display cases and steal jewelry. The incident generated widespread alarm because shoppers interpreted the sound as gunfire shortly after the San Bernardino attack. More than 100 officers and SWAT personnel responded, and the mall was searched before shoppers were allowed to leave. The suspects were later apprehended.
