Revolution firmware-lock criticism
GeeksPhone’s Revolution was criticized because its boot image was reportedly locked with a private signing key, preventing users from freely installing alternative firmware. The issue was especially contentious because the company had built its identity around open mobile software. Firefox OS development for the device also stopped at version 2.0.
