1920
Private Ku Klux Klan pressings
Gennett pressed privately commissioned Klan records during the 1920s, including politicized hymns, custom songs, and speeches by D. C. Stephenson. The records were not generally included in public catalogs and were shipped to Klan headquarters after payment. The business relationship remains a serious contradiction to Gennett's important recordings of African-American artists and integrated musical groups.
