Reports stated that Geo News employees had not been paid for three months and that the editor-in-chief was summoned to explain the situation. The dispute was described by a Geo Network executive as part of an effort to financially weaken the organization.
2014
Hamid Mir attack coverage and license suspension
Following the attack on journalist Hamid Mir, Geo News aired allegations involving elements of the Inter-Services Intelligence agency and its then-chief, Zaheer-ul-Islam. The allegations were denied by the military. The government suspended the channel’s license for 15 days, and the Geo network and Jang Group later apologized to the armed forces and the ISI.
