Alleged drainage obstruction and flooding near Sitakunda
A Chittagong district administration investigation reportedly linked the company to blocked or redirected natural canals and flooding affecting approximately 2,500 people in two villages. GPH Ispat rejected the investigation as biased. Reports also alleged construction of a concrete dam in a natural reservoir while a High Court stay order remained in effect.

Forest Department environmental case
Bangladesh’s Forest Department accused GPH Ispat authorities of cutting approximately 15,175 cubic feet of hills, constructing makeshift dams in a protected area, changing natural water flow and harming biodiversity. GPH Ispat said the work was preparatory activity for rainwater harvesting rather than a makeshift dam.
