    Gree Publicly Reports Aux, Sparking 'Commercial Defamation or Social Supervision' Debate

    In June 2019, Gree Electric publicly reported Aux air conditioners on its official Weibo for falsely labeling energy efficiency. Aux called the police and said Gree was maliciously slandering it, while public opinion questioned whether Gree was using the report to attack a competitor and exposing poor industry fundamentals; Dong Mingzhu said she had originally agreed with Midea and Haier to report together but was stood up. In April 2020, regulators found that one Aux air conditioner had falsely labeled energy efficiency and fined the company 100,000 yuan, partially confirming Gree's report.
