Timberland unsolicited text-message settlement
GSI Commerce and Timberland agreed to pay up to $7 million to settle claims by mobile subscribers who alleged that they received unsolicited advertising text messages. Both companies denied wrongdoing and said a separate company was responsible for obtaining subscriber consent. The case was notable as a nationwide settlement under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
