Hellmann's launched Fridge Hunters, a campaign encouraging people to make meals with food in their refrigerators that they might otherwise throw away. The campaign featured chef José Andrés and included recipes and a sweepstakes for virtual fridge-hunting sessions.

Hellmann’s teamed up with Animal Crossing on an in-game island activation to raise money for FareShare. For each virtual spoiled turnip donated, Hellmann’s owner Unilever will donate an amount equivalent to two meals.

Hellmann’s announced that all of its mayonnaise jars and bottles in Canada would be made with 100 per cent recycled plastic by March 2020; the change was projected to save one million kilograms of virgin plastic that year.
