2019
Washing-machine door-interlock recall
Selected Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines manufactured from 2014 to 2018 were recalled because faulty door interlocks could overheat and cause a fire.

Grenfell Tower fire
Investigators identified an electrical fault in a Hotpoint FF175 refrigerator-freezer as the source of the fire that began at Grenfell Tower in London. The disaster killed 72 people and led to extensive examination of appliance design, testing, warnings and manufacturer communications.

Tumble-dryer fire-risk controversy
Certain Hotpoint and Indesit tumble dryers were subject to safety alerts because lint could escape the filter and collect near heating elements. The issue resulted in engineering modifications and a later replacement or repair programme.
