Huadian Power International Plants Named and Penalized for Excess Emissions and Desulfurization Failures
In July 2014, environmental authorities reported that multiple state-owned energy enterprises had excessive emissions, and Huadian Power International was named twice within one week; Huadian Group appeared three times on the notification "blacklist" within 15 days, including Baotou Donghua Thermal Power, which had its desulfurization electricity price deducted and was fined a total of 5.8325 million yuan because its desulfurization facilities were not operating in sync. Previously, in 2013, Huadian and several other central state-owned enterprises were penalized for falsifying environmental monitoring data and for abnormal operation of desulfurization facilities. Progress: administrative penalty. Entities involved: Huadian Power International Co., Ltd., Baotou Donghua Thermal Power Co., Ltd., and Huadian Power International's Shuozhou Thermal Power Branch. Scope: some power plants under Huadian Power International and Huadian Group.
