    Symantec reportedly exited joint venture over U.S. government security concerns

    Huawei Symantec was a joint venture between the two parties established in 2007. In 2011, Huawei acquired Symantec's 49% stake for $530 million. In 2012, Reuters and others reported that Symantec's exit was due to concern that its association with Huawei could affect its ability to obtain confidential cyber threat information from the U.S. government; the official line said sole ownership was better for development. The joint venture was later renamed Huawei Digital Technologies (Chengdu). The joint venture was dissolved.
