    ECG PowerApp contract controversy

    Hubtel's contract with the Electricity Company of Ghana for the ECG PowerApp drew public scrutiny over a reported GH¢259,819,544.97 invoice, the scope of billed items, and claims about a US$25 million project amount. Hubtel said the US$25 million figure was an approved ceiling rather than actual expenditure and reported actual spending of US$12 million. It also stated that its commission was 0.95% of processed payments rather than 3%. After negotiations, the reported final payment was reduced to GH¢20 million. The Africa Center for Energy Policy called for an independent audit because of alleged discrepancies between Hubtel-related figures and ECG records.
