    Owen Hart death and Over the Edge controversy

    During a WWF pay-per-view at Kemper Arena, Owen Hart was accidentally released from a suspended entrance rig and fell into the ring. He later died at a nearby hospital. The decision to continue the event after a short interruption was criticized, and Hart's family brought a wrongful-death lawsuit that ended in an out-of-court settlement. The Over the Edge event name was subsequently retired.
