North American talc litigation and bankruptcy
Imerys’ North American talc subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 protection amid mass tort claims alleging that talc products contained asbestos and contributed to cancer. Imerys denied the allegations and maintained that its talc was safe.
2018
Three Forks talc-worker lockout
Union workers at Imerys Talc America’s Three Forks, Montana facility were locked out after rejecting proposed changes affecting retiree insurance, seniority, overtime, work rules, and job classifications. The dispute ended when workers approved a new three-year contract in October 2018.
