Reported security and data-communications concerns
Newsweek reported on a study alleging that Insta360 cameras communicated with 276 foreign endpoints, including endpoints associated with Chinese and Russian entities, and might transmit device and user-related information. Newsweek said it could not independently verify the study’s findings. Insta360 stated that it was committed to protecting user privacy. The report prompted calls for closer scrutiny of Chinese-made connected devices in military and other sensitive environments.
