    'Deep Pit Hotel' subject to enforcement for 62.5 million yuan over construction payment dispute

    After Shimao Group's liquidity crisis, the owner of the InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland (the "deep pit hotel") was ordered by the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court to pay more than 62.5 million yuan to contractor China Construction Eighth Engineering Division over unpaid construction fees; an earlier sale of the hotel had failed. The hotel had also been penalized by market regulators over issues including operating unregistered cosmetics. Shimao's plan to spin off the hotel for listing stalled.
