Luca Visentini and the Qatargate investigation
ITUC general secretary Luca Visentini was arrested in Belgium as part of the investigation into alleged corruption and influence-peddling involving Qatar and European Parliament figures. He was conditionally released after two days. Reporting later raised questions about financial support connected with his leadership campaign, an association with a non-profit run by Antonio Panzeri, and a flight paid for by Qatar.
