Controversy over authorization of the exchange

A Pakistani high court inquiry investigated the authorization of the proposed Islamabad stock exchange. The judge’s findings and opinion alleged that Minister of State for Finance Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha had assisted an arrangement that favored a company with which he had previously been connected, while a family member was also reportedly a director of that company. The episode concerned the approval process and alleged conflicts of interest surrounding the exchange’s creation.
