Bankruptcy and ownership dispute
Following Emigrant Capital’s acquisition of a controlling interest and the removal of C. J. Rapp as chief executive, the company entered bankruptcy proceedings. Rapp and another shareholder challenged the filings and later sued Emigrant Capital, alleging breaches of fiduciary responsibility. The litigation ended after approximately eight years with an undisclosed settlement.
