Suzhou King Long's RMB 519 million NEV subsidy fraud leads to nearly RMB 800 million in recovery and fines
The Ministry of Finance reported that King Long United Automotive Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. had 1,683 new energy vehicles registered early before completion and over-claimed RMB 519.2 million in central government subsidies. The Ministry of Finance recovered pre-allocated funds and imposed a RMB 260 million fine, canceling its eligibility for central government subsidies from 2016; the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology suspended its recommendation qualification for new energy vehicle models and ordered production suspension for rectification. It was the largest fine in a new energy vehicle "subsidy fraud" case, and shares of parent company King Long Motor fell sharply.
