Ascena Retail Group, parent company of Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant and Justice, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company said the move should reduce its debt by almost $1 billion.

Ascena Retail Group, the operator of Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company also said its bankruptcy plan would close all Catherines stores and a significant number of Justice stores, along with selected stores of several other brands.
