Liulishuo questioned over inducing spending and refund difficulties, later forced by NYSE to delist
In 2019, consumers questioned Liulishuo over inducing consumption, difficulty in fulfilling its "tuition refund" promise, and refund difficulties; meanwhile, selling expenses exceeded revenue, with cumulative losses of about RMB 800 million over three years. Two years after listing, its market value had evaporated by more than 80%, paying users had dropped sharply, and the company laid off staff and closed some branch offices. In 2022, the NYSE initiated forced delisting proceedings against Liulishuo, and the company left the U.S. stock market.
