Marshall Freeman fined $59,400 by ACCC for debt collection harassment and misleading claims
Debt collection company Marshall Freeman Collections Pty Ltd paid $59,400 in penalties after the ACCC issued three infringement notices over its debt collection activities between July 2024 and June 2025. The ACCC alleged Marshall Freeman unduly harassed consumers by continuing to demand payment without dealing with requests for information or adequately addressing disputes, and sent letters misleadingly claiming it had instructions from creditors to commence legal proceedings when no such instructions existed. Marshall Freeman also provided a court enforceable undertaking admitting its conduct breached or was likely to breach the Australian Consumer Law.
