Matchbook acquires Dermot Desmond's betting exchange Betdaq
Matchbook has acquired Betdaq, the peer-to-peer betting exchange owned by Celtic investor Dermot Desmond, in a deal aimed at strengthening liquidity and improving prices for customers. The acquisition brings together two established names in peer-to-peer betting, combining Betdaq's legacy with Matchbook's expertise in pricing, liquidity and technology.

Matchbook completes acquisition of Betdaq
Matchbook, the peer-to-peer betting exchange and market technology business, has completed its acquisition of Betdaq, one of the world's earliest betting exchanges, founded by Dermot Desmond in 2000 and operated by EPS Ltd. The existing Betdaq service will remain open for trading until 21 October 2026 to allow an orderly transition, with customer accounts open for withdrawals until 4 November 2026, and customer funds remain protected in accordance with both operators' regulatory obligations.
