Suspicious Sky-High Rent Related-Party Deals Halt Four 'MicroPort System' Hong Kong Stocks

In September 2026, MicroPort Medical and three other "MicroPort system" Hong Kong-listed companies collectively halted trading due to issues in interim audit verification of rent payments, deposits and the property owner's related-party relationships; the landlord's predecessor was named "Shanghai MicroPort Investment" and had equity and personnel links to founder Chang Zhaohua and the MicroPort system, involving about US$195 million in rent and RMB 296 million in deposits, and was questioned as benefit tunneling. The company had previously posted a US$649 million loss in 2023. Trading halted for verification, company "admitted mistake."
