US executive order requires ByteDance to divest TikTok-related US assets
An executive order signed by President Donald Trump prohibited ByteDance’s acquisition of Musical.ly and required ByteDance to sell assets enabling TikTok to operate in the United States within 90 days. The order also required destruction of US user data obtained from TikTok or Musical.ly.

TikTok sued over alleged collection and exposure of children’s data
A class-action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleged that TikTok and related defendants collected and exposed personally identifiable data of children under 13 in violation of child privacy protection laws.
