Nanexa signs $1.33 billion global licensing deal with Novo Nordisk for PharmaShell technology
Swedish drug-delivery company Nanexa announced a global licensing agreement with Novo Nordisk, granting the maker of Wegovy and Ozempic exclusive rights for up to five development programs to use Nanexa's PharmaShell technology, an ultra-thin inorganic coating on drug particles that controls release over time, for long-acting injectable drugs targeting obesity, type 2 diabetes and other cardiometabolic conditions. Nanexa is eligible for an upfront payment of around $700 million, milestone payments for development and regulatory achievements, and low single-digit royalties on future product sales, in a deal reported at $1.33 billion. Nanexa shares surged more than 150% at Friday's open in Stockholm before paring gains.
