Liu Xin, investment director of Nanjing Steel, was suspected of soliciting huge bribes from business entities during an equity acquisition; he was placed on file for investigation and subjected to 'shuanggui' measures. The case was transferred to judicial authorities.

Major '10·5' Blast Furnace Molten Iron Leak Kills 12
During the shutdown of Nanjing Iron & Steel's No. 5 blast furnace, molten iron leaked, killing 12 and seriously injuring one. A notification from the State Administration of Work Safety identified it as a major responsibility accident; the company was fined RMB 1 million; 13 responsible persons received Party and government disciplinary sanctions; three were transferred to judicial authorities; and multiple directors were held accountable. The steel industry carried out safety rectification.
