Dealer bribery case involves Mindray equipment; controlling shareholder's share sales spark controversy

A 2017 report showed that dealer Yang Wentao, to win bids to represent Mindray and other brands of medical equipment, bribed health department and hospital personnel 1.0483 million yuan and was sentenced to five years; the judgment did not find Mindray involved. During the 2023 medical anti-corruption campaign, Mindray's controlling shareholder reduced holdings through methods such as “divorce first, then reduce holdings,” which shareholders criticized as “self-deception.” In 2026, another dealer accused the company of forced inventory loading; the company denied it. Mindray said hospital procurement may be delayed due to anti-corruption; no penalty against the company itself has been seen.
