Navient reaches student-loan settlement with state attorneys general
Navient reached a settlement with state attorneys general involving cancellation of nearly $2 billion in student debt and $1.85 billion in claims. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro alleged that Navient put profits ahead of borrowers and engaged in deceptive and abusive practices. Navient did not admit fault and maintained that it had not acted illegally.
